Visit From World Champion

SuffolkSUP members had an excellent day on Saturday when current 24 Hour Distance Endurance world champion (180km in 24 hours) Jo Hamiliton-Vale came to visit Alton Water. Joined by Peter Vale the morning was spent in the classroom discussing the equipment, nutrition and skills required to successfully partake in the Endurance race series this year. Lots of information was shared and we all now feel better prepared for the following races that a number of club racers are taking part in this year.

Thames Ultra Endurance race 55 km - 27 May

Norfolk Ultra Endurance race 80 km - 17 / 18 June

Round Jersey Challenge 65 km - 12 August

Great Glen Ultra Endurance race 93 km - 14 October

Many thanks to Jo and Peter for an excellent day that was rounded off with some windy downwind paddling on the lake!

See you on the water...

Bala Lake UK SUP Club Race

An excellent weekend for suffolksup club members at the first UK SUP clubs race at Lake Bala Wales.

Neil, Kelvin, Wilma, Belinda and Jon all took part in the 2 races during the day. The first was a 100m sprint out to a buoy and back. The ice melt water was very cold and the paddling fast! The second race in the afternoon was to 'Race the Train'! down the 5km lake. The small tourist train departed at 5.30pm and all paddlers set off down the lake with a slight wind behind. Congratulations to all paddlers.
